So it has been a great journey trying different foods during my travels in Europe for the past 4 months. There were many foods I came to love and been partial too haha, I don’t want to say I hated them completely. I just would like to take this post to thank everyone who I ate food with (Diana, Leena, Erin, Miste, Monica, Ericka, etc.), showed me around to great places to eat( Ruth, Linda etc.), cooked me food (my señora Ana especially), those who were concerned that I havent posted anything and thinking I havent eaten in a while (Amy Perkins), those who were jealous of the foods I ate (Hope Bataclan), and lastly the person who made me start this blog in the first place (Andrew Jose =] ). Thank you guys for following my journey, it was a great 90 posts haha. I don’t feel like I should rank the countries by my favorite because all of them had different unique foods and shouldn’t be judged. They’re just different… Anyways I’ve come to an end, maybe i’ll add more entries once I return to Europe in the future and try more new foods cause I definitely have not eaten every single thing and there are still so many countries I need to go to. Pues hasta luego Europe. And I end this saying QUÉ APROVECHE!!
Ok here is my last meal in Spain and my last post with food :( Sad I know but everything has to come to an end sometime. I was too lazy to take a picture of my plane food because I just went through hell just trying to get on that flight. But my last meal was a Kebab de pollo con patatas fritas y una fanta. :) SOOOOO it was basically an utter fail eating this. It like broke within the first few bites and all the insides just spilled out and i had no utensils in my hotel room so i ate with my hands… it would have been funny if people were with me watching me but I was alone cause everyone left already… Anyways this is the 2nd to last post because I’m going to write one last post summarizing my journey…
I didn’t take a picture of my last meal with Diana with her paella and Leena with her last Kebab but yeah…. here is one of the last dishes I had in Spain with Miste and Erin. This was like Patatas con something that started with a Z (zorzo?) dont remember. But it was good and it was at this really good tapas place that Erin and Miste heard about during their walking tour called Zapatera or something haha. Anyways love you guys and all our food experiences. They will truly be missed.
My last breakfast at my host family’s home :( I forgot to take a picture of my last lunch. She made me my favorite meal which was pisto which I have failed to take a picture of because I don’t think about taking pictures during meals, I just eat haha. Anyways my typical breakfast with tea. So i needed to eat one of everything. According to my señora Spaniards eat bread with olive oil and tomatoes for breakfast, so I made one of those. Then I ate one with strawberry marmalade and one with butter. Thank you Ana for all the food and teaching me how to cook food!!!
Flamenquin!!!! So shared this amongs like 6 people. We got two different types. One was cerdo con pimiento verde (pork with green peppers) and the other was Pollo (chicken). I still prefer that Flamenca from Canadian in Ciudad Jardin cause that was bomb. Anyways enjoyed the snack before lunch as we said out goodbyes to Lola our Spanish 4 teacher. Thank you for everything Lola, you have taught me a lot.
Another drink from el campeon, this one was called Saggitorio? Yo creo. Shared it with miss Leena and was still part of our mini date :) Didn’t get buzzed from it cause I was so full but I drank more that night and actually misxed 6 different alcohols haha… not a great morning to wake up to. Tequilla, vodka, jack daniels, wine, beer, and whatever was in this drink. But whatevs disfrutaba.
So i asked my host parents if they could suggest a restaurant in cordoba with good food and they suggested a place called Canadian. They told me to order 3 things but I could only remember 2 of them when I went. Had a mini date with Leena and we ordered timbal and flamenca. Only reason they suggested it was because the owner was a client of my señor’s. He told us to ask for a certain waitress cause she would give us something free. Timbal was basically patatas fritas (more of a fried scalloped potato) with sunny side eggs on top and jamon bits… One of my favorite sunday lunches that my señora would make every sunday. :) second was flamenca which is basically flamenquin but bigger. It’s even better than flamenquin. I liked the pork, cheese, bacon, and red peppers inside. Great combo of flavors. Then she gave us a free dessert which was cream puffs. So nice of her so we left her a good tip. Anyways I wish I could have gone here again but didn’t have time. Next time I go to cordoba I have to stop by :)
All i remember is a lot of beans and I put some small pepper and mixed it around. Yay some actual spice but I was kind of spicy… the skin parts were the spiciest parts. It was funny cause my hermano actually started tearing up because it was that spicy. Spanish people aren’t use to it… but i was ok
Good try making mashed potatoes señora but i needed more salt and pepper and butter and milk. Good attempt but just not the same. I like that we ate it with hot dogs. And i find it funny that sometimes I would eat hot dogs and rice for dinner and I actually do that in the states. But yeah I felt bad asking for pepper and salt so i didn’t ask and just sucked it up and ate it.
